Buy by the right unit
- Most stems are sold by the bunch (commonly 10, 20, or 25 stems).
- Roses are often sold by the box (e.g. 80–100 stems) for events.
- For large installations, ask for box pricing — the per-stem cost drops meaningfully at volume.
Plan your lead times
Standing catalogue stock can often be fulfilled same-day or next-day. Special imports and specific varieties for a wedding or event should be ordered 1–2 weeks ahead, because they are sourced to order from the auctions and air-freighted in. The earlier you commit, the better the price and the more secure the supply.
Judge quality on arrival
- Firm, upright stems — never soft or bent.
- Tight-to-just-opening heads, depending on your timeline.
- Clean foliage with no yellowing, bruising, or botrytis spotting.
- Cool to the touch — a sign the cold chain held from auction to delivery.
The cheapest box is rarely the best value. Factor in wastage: a premium box with 2% loss often beats a budget box with 20%.

The best wholesale pricing goes to consistent buyers. A standing weekly order, predictable volumes, and a single point of contact give you leverage, priority during peak seasons, and a partner who will go to bat for you when supply is tight.
